Be the family's best friend of her eventual lover, a young and somewhat immature secretly in love with Casanova's also the need to take care of the boy.

Comment:

Queer as Folk was a landmark in television history by being the first television series to deal openly with homosexuality with a focus for the public gay, with Homosexual characters had previously existed side in series as Enredo , one of the pioneers in the 70's, or even in serials like Dynasty, but the products were intended for a heterosexual audience that homosexuality was a note of color or exotic. In the 90 Ellen DeGeneres came out of the closet while the fictional character who played on the sitcom Ellen , but not the number was no longer general, other production then began to count stars homosexuals, as was the case of English Uncle Willy, but its potential audience was being heterosexual families (as evidenced by the title) and his approach to teaching and politically correct.

Queer as Folk, however, is the portrait of a group of gay characters facing gay audiences also identifies situations and stereotypes that are offered and not only allows but requires a higher dose realism and diversity. Free from the tutelage imposed by political correctness and the family audience, the gay characters longer have the halo and aseptic asexual had surrounded them so far and are freed from the heavy commitment of each of them represent all homosexuals the planet; may be, within his fiction, flesh and blood and have strengths, weaknesses, ambitions, frustrations and sexual life.

The series addresses three main stereotypes: a young, shy and somewhat immature unlucky as sentimental, his best friend, your typical heartthrob who goes to bed every night with one or more different guys and misses home full speed just pull up his pants, and a teenager who just came out in a rather dramatic cabinet leaving the house of his parents and being more or less adopted by the other characters. Although the world of night partying and promiscuity that is displayed does not represent the entire gay community of a city, but rather only to the common than in Spain is called environment, ie, bars and nightclubs to public gay, Queer as Folk gallery offers a variety of behaviors and attitudes, with most romantic characters , cooler or live his homosexuality more or less secret, since married people that cheating on his wife with men every time you visit the city to the insane more unleashed, to those who approach their sexuality as normal with your friends but they prefer or have to be discreet in their workplace. It also shows the difficulty of developing bond in a world where sex is so easy to find, and even friendship, since the relationship between the two main characters is actually a love story more or less buried that prevents one of them to pursue any relationship with another guy and that flatters the other, the Don Juan, encouraging him to manipulate and feed from time to time the hopes of his friend, despite its being unable to reciprocate.

Top Scenes:

  • The full scene teen victimization reproached her best friend who does not understand how hard it is to be gay. She responds to success: test being female and black.
Anecdotes:

  • original British series and consists of just eight chapters. Unfortunately, the success of the American version stopped production, it is a pity because the English production is much more realistic and has a very superior character design, compared to the rich and beautiful from the American. I strongly recommend the original series, whose chapters can be downloaded from the net with funny subtitles in English.
  • After his series of worship for years among gay through Internet downloads, Four finally dared to release the American version in Spain.

Send Messages To Friends About My New Baby

Blue Velvet understood: it is a strange world, right? Survey

Blue velvet. USA, 1986.

Director and Screenwriter: David Lynch

Cast: Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini, Dennis Hopper, Laura Dern

Subjects of interest: fetishism, sadomasochism

Synopsis:
A human ear appears on the quiet garden district where Jeffrey lives. The boy is investigating the case on his own with the help of Sandy, the daughter of one of the policemen in town. Sandy puts Jeffrey on the trail of Dorothy, the lead singer of a night-club that will introduce the young into the dark night of your local underworld, hitherto completely unknown to him.

Comment:

The film begins with an overview of a typical American residential area. Sunshine and the gentle ballad sounds Blue velvet which gives the film its title. Suddenly one of the neighbors have a heart attack, the music loses strength and is replaced by a disturbing noise and the camera is inserted into the grass of one of the gardens of the neighborhood, discovering in him a severed human ear. This already tells us that we will attend a descent into hell hidden under a nice appearance, given the dreamlike tone of the film, this can be seen as a metaphor for a journey into the subconscious, to combat the most threatening oneself, which is almost always the center of the film by David Lynch. Blue Velvet be seen as a modern fairy tale in which Jeffrey, the protagonist, you have to shape their identity and move into adulthood with a traumatic initiation process which must deal with a witch, Dorothy, and an ogre (Frank, Dorothy's lover) to win the princess, Sandy.

In this journey of initiation to the dark bowels of the city, or of self, sexuality plays a very important but does not normally stand out erotomaniac Lynch as all his films have a strong sexual atmosphere. In Blue Velvet dared to put first on the table for characters with a distinctly sexual fetish, years before the bizarre cult was fashionable; this film was actually quite a countercurrent time as the 80 dominated by the asexuality and innocence somewhat forced productions Steven Spielberg and his imitators, always looking for label film for all audiences. Lynch distanced himself with this work clearly aimed at an adult audience in which they openly show the cruel ritual of domination and submission, on the edge of rape, who play Frank and Dorothy. Frank appears as an adult child as sadistic and perverse as dependent, unable to control his sexual drive and to give moral or emotional dimension, Dorothy, both fairy and witch reaffirms its role of victim to the point of investing in someone like Jeffrey, who is reluctant to be the executioner and therefore will to assume another role and be humiliated, and that Dorothy does not support sex without power games. Their strange relationship with this sadomasochistic initiation Jeffrey will serve to confront his fear of women and the demons of his own sexuality, represented by Frank, destroy and thereby turn the witch in a fairy good. In later films of David Lynch, the protagonist is no longer able to carry out successful completion of this process and is involved in a self-destructive nightmare, as in Lost Highway .

  • Apart from these relations, David Lynch found this film to his girlfriend for several years, Isabella Rossellini .

His first film, Eraserhead , hard to see and carried out with a limited budget over the years become a film cult and get some producers are set to their director. Blue Velvet makes it one of the authors most unique and one of the main references of contemporary avant-garde cinema. His surreal and dreamlike look on the black film is repeated on the hit television soap opera Twin Peaks and later in other cult films as Lost Highway or Mulholland Drive . Eroticism, Fetish and almost always disturbing, is one of the main elements of his films and is always leaving the stories, but rarely go to extreme close.
