lovers: the happy married

Les Amants. France 1958.

Director: Louis Malle

Screenwriter: Louise de Vilmorin

Cast: Jeanne Moreau, Alain Cuny, José Luis de Villalonga, Jean-Marc Bory

Subjects of interest: adultery

Synopsis:

Jeanne Tournier is a married woman belonging to the bourgeoisie of Dijon. Boring life with her husband in a small town, occasionally passing seasons in Paris, which alternates with a friend and a lover. However, despite Jeanne his double life remains dissatisfied.

Comment:

The scandal which had been in France over a hundred years before the publication of Madame Bovary also struck in 1958 the premiere of another work, this time film on an adulteress. Although when it premiered lovers and extramarital affairs were a common theme in the film, the issue was always with a moralizing tone: U.S. censorship code expressly forbade adultery show that did not bring terrible consequences for those involved ( especially for women) and in Europe, despite not having a defined rules about the fear of censorship and pressure of various types produced a similar result.

But things began to change and this film was proof of that. For many viewers of the time, was the first time I saw a bed scene in a movie, with a shy nude included. However, the most striking thing was not so much a liar is married with a boy younger than herself and saw no ellipsis that their relationship was carnal, but the director want to show without condemning or transmit any moral message.

As always in the Louis Malle film, there is no plot very defined and a classic that provides a progression from one scene to another, but different sequences show the apathy of a woman who cheats on her husband and maintains a double life with a lover fixed without any romantic alibi. Jeanne not looking for love or is idealistic and has no practical excuse for his double life, apart from the boredom of bourgeois existence in the provinces. However, the relationship with her lover has become just as routine and formal marriage and dissatisfaction of women is growing. Only an encounter with a handsome young man near the end of the film will be reborn especially sexual passion in Jeanne, and will not be punished for it, as would have been usual even in a movie now. Like all works of its director, Lovers shows a hedonistic character in search of freedom and pleasure apart from the moral and social standards, but it will take any kind of doom. Scenes

Highlights: Jeanne
  • seduced by a new young lover at the end of film.La without many openly camera shows how the couple has sex, for the first time during the film, viewers see a women's full enjoyment.

Anecdotes:
  • was presented at the 1958 Venice Film Festival, winning the Special Jury Prize.
  • The Catholic Church was positioned hard against the film, sparking much controversy. However, the film had no legal trouble for showing in France beyond the attempts to boycott the right wing press. In the United States the owner of a cinema came to be prosecuted and fined for showing it, although the Supreme Court, before which appealed the sentence, set aside the penalty for not considering that the film was pornographic. About
director:

Louis Malle (Thumeries, France, 1932 - Los Angeles 1995) was one of the great innovators of French cinema in the late 50's and early 60's, but always considered outside the movement nouvelle vague. At the time, the amorality of his work and the lack of prosecutions and convictions to characters with free or unorthodox sexual behaviors caused much controversy, especially in titles like lovers or The heart murmur. The controversy, in this case for political reasons, Lacombe Lucien raised moves him to emigrate in the 70 United States, where it rolls The small and Atlantic City . Sexuality in his films is shown as a powerful force, amoral openly displayed or morbidity, with a large normal.

Signs When A Scorpio Man Loves You

The lover of love: romantic

aimait les femmes. France, 1977.

Director: François Truffaut

Screenwriters: Michel Fermaud, Suzanne Schiffman, François Truffaut

Cast: Charles Denner, Brigitte Fossey, Nathalie Baye, Nelly Borgeaud

Subjects
interest: promiscuity, casual sex

Synopsis:

Bertrand Morane's funeral turns into a meeting of all the women he has seduced, or that you have won, as you look. Not one man attends the funeral since Bertrand devoted all his time and thought their lovers. A flashback tells us the last months of life, which was dedicated to having all their adventures in a biography, not knowing that the book would be published only posthumously.

Comment:

Life of Bertrand has one reason being : know intimately as many women as possible. His activity as seductive never ceases or drops his guard, any occasion can be good to bring out a new conquest: as in any c onquistador, the key to their success in courtship is perseverance and never demoralized not defeat. B ertrand not seek couples or the love of his life, this is z began searching at first but once inside his spiral of seduction is aware that his greatest pleasure is the curiosity to discover a new woman and none is good enough to stop trying to conquer the others. No doubt our friend really likes sex, but if that was all he seeks would become a regular of prostitution as many men, is the mystery of not knowing who will meet new women or that strategy then used to "hunting" that fills his life with excitement.

Bertrand behavior be considered pathological in a woman (what was formerly called nymphomania) and today for a man also has lost much of the romantic aura that surrounds it and Truffaut. Sex addiction, or rather sexual conquest, seriously undermines the social and emotional life of the protagonist, who has no friends or family ties, as this would take some of the time devoted to compulsive flirting. The film also does not show any interest in working for Bertrand : this is probably an intelligent man who could have done a better career if he had focused a bit more in it, but we must celebrate that his addiction did not prevent the least minimally meet their work commitments. At present, our man would without doubt the Internet to their meetings, which would surely casual relationships had a more purely sexual content. Of course, at least Bertrand is very clear what he wants and does not suffer fooling yourself into thinking you want to find the love of your life and not get it, or made to suffer any wife with his infidelities, so his compulsive search for sex becomes a vital choice, certainly not the best from the point of view but totally respectable emotional balance. Scenes

Highlights:

  • Bertrand's funeral was filled with women of all styles. This scene is rather dreamlike, since it is difficult to learn of the death of someone you there has been more than a sporadic sexual relationship, and even harder to decide to go to his funeral, has an important Fellini aroma was homanejada / copied in a chapter of the frenzied series Nip Tuck which pretended death Flirt Dr. Troy.

Anecdotes:

  • contest was presented to the Berlin film festival 1977.
  • won three Cesar nominations for lead actor and two actresses secondary.
  • The pleonastic English certificate a little cheesy, sexual begs the question even more than the French, man who liked women .
  • Blake Edwards held in 1983, a remake of the film starring Burt Reynolds , here titled The Man Who Loved Women .
About the director:

François Truffaut was one of the most feared film critics in France in the 50's. From the famous publication Cahiers de cinéma denounced the stiffness that he said was suffering French celluloid time until in 1959 decided to put his theories into practice. Along with colleagues at the magazine and other young filmmakers, captained what was called the nouvelle vague , a new style of cinema's most fresh and iconoclastic, which can be considered as the debut of the modern cinema. Along with this greater openness, Truffaut also dared to talk about issues of sexual partners and avoiding the moralizing in films such as soft skin or marital home, among others.

Vounteer Confirmation Letter

Dirty Shame Puppy: Happy Daddy Bear

Puppy. Spain, 2004.

Director: Miguel Albaladejo

Screenwriters: Miguel Albaladejo and Salvador Garcia Ruiz

Cast: José Luis García Pérez, David Castillo

Subjects of interest: male homosexuality, fetishism, promiscuity

Synopsis:

Peter is a dentist with an active gay social and sexual life has to take care of his nephew Bernardo, since his sister is going abroad on holiday. This, temporary and occasional in principle, is extended indefinitely in time when the boy's mother is detained in another country and is exposed to a long prison sentence. Peter will have to consider whether his life is compatible with the education of a child or if you must choose between one thing and another.

Comment:

During the last two decades, homosexuality, while remaining a taboo in mainstream cinema, which for now only supports a few stereotypes like the funny side that accompanies the protagonist women's shopping or just being repressed accepted or accepted himself after of grim traumatic experiences, has become the protagonist of a series of independent films that go beyond these clichés and the film demands. Puppy

reflects the situation of many homosexuals who live in large cities, for their inclinations and not a tragedy or a drama and therefore they need not claim great causes but live their lives with a semblance of normality, which, however is more fragile than it seems: a time to take charge of his nephew Pedro lifestyle makes him vulnerable in the eyes of those who consider those who are not like them can not be considered normal .

However, it is true that the film, despite addressing the issue of child adoption by homosexual persons, not limited to the pamphlet, but that counts, not a great drama, but the small drama of a person sees his life altered by the presence of his nephew and you have to face legal problems, the family of the child and his complicated emotional situation with half French boyfriend comes to visit from time to time.

That's where the movie sins perhaps Manichaeism and lack of credibility in doing so idealized portrait of its protagonist. Peter combines perfectly too their revelry night by local gays with his career and his new job as accidental father. As in other tapes Albaladejo, you can see a misogyny so evident as opposed to a large extent to which we are accustomed to seeing: women are immature, possessive and somewhat hysterical, men have a strong emotional balance and a great hand with children. Peter has also been said that, despite his feelings about his French lover, does not want commitments, their emotional resilience is such that this relationship does not pose flashing any doubt or conflict, and it is not selfishness but know perfectly what is best for him and for everybody. Probably the intention of the script is not falling into the reactionary topical promiscuity present as a symbol of irresponsibility and results in all aspects of life, but maybe it will go out of hand in the other direction.

Finally, the film focuses on a branch of the gay world, the underworld of bears or bears , whereas in a smaller city and being gay is unusual enough in itself, in a large City sexual orientation is no longer an identity in itself so, like heterosexuals, gays are also obliged to find that identity forming their groups and clans around certain aesthetic, music and more. Embracing the aesthetics of bears, many men somewhat overweight and ugly from a conventional view individuals cease to be insipid and pass to flaunt and be proud of his physique and status; Puppy portrays this environment to bear great authenticity. Scenes

Highlights:

  • Pedro visit a local environment, down to the stairs where the dark room and then begins to kiss with a stranger.
    Bernardo
  • The small rises unexpectedly at night, when entering the room of his uncle, is found tied to bed with a mask covering his face and another masked man dressed in leather front. The child has a panic attack and runs away.

Anecdotes:
  • Some scenes from the movie were filmed at the famous Madrid's Chueca district, and in some places specializing in bears or bears .
  • The film, which is relatively well known in the gay community and especially English in Madrid, received several awards, mainly in gay film festivals. Its protagonist achieved Goya nomination as Best Actor.

About the director:

Born in Alicante in 1966, Miguel Albaladejo is unknown to the general public, despite being a brilliant writer and a filmmaker more than correct. His only film with a certain impact was the film adaptation of the stories of famous children's literature character Manolito Gafotas (1999), created by her friend Elvira Lindo . His film has no great everyday stories with a good balance between comedy, drama and interest in emotions and their bond characters. Puppy is, so far, the only openly gay movie with explicit sex scenes.
